A local-first personal and home-automation system designed around durable integrations.
Context
The project combines messaging, email, calendars, Home Assistant, MQTT, memory, remote access, and voice.
Process
The architecture favors explicit services, documented interfaces, secure networking, and deliberate recovery paths.
Result
The system remains in development, but the direction is fewer hidden dependencies and better documentation.
What I learned
Automation is useful only when it reduces cognitive load without creating a larger maintenance burden.
